Tamara The Pilgrimage before the Pilgrimage

On March 9th 2009,I received an email from pilgrimage@bwc.org I saw it and I knew what it meant....... I just cried……… It was a Monday morning and I had had many conversations with God concerning my path in life….I knew what my purpose was,I just had a hard time figuring out how the rest of my life would work with in that( I tend to over analize so this is just a minor detail).I really asked God for “something”,”anything” that would give me some direction regarding my purpose. When we as spiri… Continue

sue A Sapling in the Hearts of Men

"The Word of God may be likened unto a sapling whose roots have been implanted in the hearts of men. It is incumbent upon you to foster its growth through the living waters of wisdom, of sanctified and holy words, so that its root may become firmly fixed and its branches may spread out as high as the heavens beyond." I was meditating on these words from the Baha'i Writings this morning. I was also thinking of a friend who spent the weekend with us and as an unexpected and much appreciated servi… Continue

Peter Atomic meditation CD - Nether World - free download

Here's a free download of a 60 minute meditation "experience" called Nether World: click it. Free to all Soul Talk members, this project delves into the illusory nature of this world and offers a meditation journey to transport you out of it. Best experienced with a good set of headphones (iPod earbuds are ok, but really kinda suck actually), lights out, in a horizontal position. Lotus is okay too. Happy sailing... Continue

Sara The End of an Era

Soul Talkers - its time to write my last blog. My suitcase is packed, my refridgerator switched off, my central heating system drained, leaving parties attended, and just one last goodbye left to be said. The 'deen will be absent of one drug dealing food fanatical Soul Talker, for she is venturing off to pastures new. Yes Soul Talkers, I'm off to Swaziland. How long for? I'm not too sure. I guess that will be determined by work, love, sense of fulfillment and patience. I'm very much looking for… Continue

sssdsm Thank you dear friends.

Thank you dear friends for your kind and thoughtful sharing. I was asked if I was a student and the answer is yes. I do have some wonderful friends as well, but they reside all over the world. I am feeling less daunted about life and my personal growth at the moment and hope this will continue as I start my final year of my degree. Conscious reflection, is hard. I try to focus but my mind wanders. I try not to force it and I don't seem to be reflecting. I think I will try to set smaller goals (… Continue

Sara Healthy news? Or perhaps a load of hot air?

I was driving into work this morning listening to the radio. Audrey, you will all be pleased to hear, is still running, albeit she is possibly being held together by the inches of dirt and grime that has laid thick after 2 years of being washed naturally by the sky. Audrey can tune into only a few channels, which with the switch over to digital will soon be diminished to none. These days she is tuned into the grown up station of news and discussions. Lately, the news has been of little interest… Continue

sue As WE are, not as THEY are

Anais Nin wrote: We don't see things as THEY are, we see things as WE are. As I was thinking about that this morning I realized that I make judgments about people and situations based on my past interactions with them. As I look out of myself at the world and at other people I can't help but color that view with my past experiences and my unique understanding of the world. Based on some very complex mix of my own bias at that moment, my personal history and my interpretation of your actions dur… Continue

Katja Art

I have just spent the most wonderful week at the Bahai Arts Academy - and naturally when all good things come to an end there's the transition back into reality (and work!). Having spent the last week learning about watercolours and starting my day with morning focus I realise just how important it is to make time for ourselves so that we can become more mindful and less robotic in our daily routine. I have never had an art class in my life but I found myself with fifteen other people being ent… Continue

sue The Flexibility of Parsley

This morning I read "If it be Thy pleasure, made me to grow as a tender herb in the meadows of Thy grace, that the gentle winds of Thy will may stir me up and bend me into conformity with Thy pleasure, in such wise that my movement and my stillness may be wholly directed by Thee." Isn't that the ultimate expression of flexibility - for us who can choose to move in any direction, to take the herb, that has no freedom of motion, as an example! When I am aware of the constant presence of God then… Continue

sue Islam and Baha'i parallel

I have recently had the opportunity to study some of Islamic history. It was a gift given to me by one of my fellow community members when she signed a bunch of us up for the Wilmette Institute on the study of the Quran. One of the historical episodes that I read about shows a parallel between that time and the persecution of the Baha'is today. The story is that Mohammad led some of His believers from Medina, where they had taken refuge, back to Mecca to make a pilgrimage to the Kaaba, the struc… Continue

sssdsm Help requested....

Wow, it's nearly a year since I wrote here and I'm no closer to the goals I set out. How do you do it? I have made achievements (academic), realisations, (mostly personal) but have yet to make changes I can see. I have prayed for change to be forced upon me, opportunities have arrived and I have not risen to the point where I can hold them in my grasp. They seem to slip by and I find myself wondering if I can ever fully succeed? This is all a bit vague, so let me clarify..... The many goals I… Continue

Sara Its not what you say, its how you say it...

"In order to facilitate complete understanding between all people, a universal auxiliary language will be adopted and in the schools of the future two languages will be taught -- the mother tongue and this international auxiliary tongue which will be either one of the existing language or a new language made up of words from all the languages -- the matter is to be determined by a confederation met for the purpose which shall represent all tribes and nations. This international tongue will beContinue
