Sue, this gives me quite the visual, and since I am a visual learner it is very helpful in explaining the process. When you say that the Word of God can suffer from lack of attention,I understand that entirely. When life gets too stressful and I am...

Dear Sue , the interesting thing about change and growth is when someone is growing, dreaming moving onward and upwards we may see where we are stuck in our own lives. One thing I have come to realize is that when I change and an opportunity for le...

I was moved by your comments about art. A few years ago I did a personal inventory and found that although I was addressing many aspects of myself, I had completely given up on any kind of artistic endeavor and I realized that I had to find some w...

A Sapling in the Hearts of Men

"The Word of God may be likened unto a sapling whose roots have been implanted in the hearts of men. It is incumbent upon you to foster its growth through the living waters of wisdom, of sanctified and holy words, so that its root may become firmly fixed and its branches may spread out as high as the heavens beyond."

I was meditating on these words from the Baha'i Writings this morning. I was also thinking of a friend who spent the weekend with us and as an unexpected and much appreciated servi… Continue

As WE are, not as THEY are

Anais Nin wrote: We don't see things as THEY are, we see things as WE are.

As I was thinking about that this morning I realized that I make judgments about people and situations based on my past interactions with them. As I look out of myself at the world and at other people I can't help but color that view with my past experiences and my unique understanding of the world. Based on some very complex mix of my own bias at that moment, my personal history and my interpretation of your actions dur… Continue

The Flexibility of Parsley

This morning I read "If it be Thy pleasure, made me to grow as a tender herb in the meadows of Thy grace, that the gentle winds of Thy will may stir me up and bend me into conformity with Thy pleasure, in such wise that my movement and my stillness may be wholly directed by Thee."

Isn't that the ultimate expression of flexibility - for us who can choose to move in any direction, to take the herb, that has no freedom of motion, as an example! When I am aware of the constant presence of God then… Continue

Islam and Baha'i parallel

I have recently had the opportunity to study some of Islamic history. It was a gift given to me by one of my fellow community members when she signed a bunch of us up for the Wilmette Institute on the study of the Quran. One of the historical episodes that I read about shows a parallel between that time and the persecution of the Baha'is today. The story is that Mohammad led some of His believers from Medina, where they had taken refuge, back to Mecca to make a pilgrimage to the Kaaba, the struc… Continue

Helen's Depth

I had a friend named Helen Hornby who passed away several years ago. She was vibrant, educated, dedicated to the Faith and an inspiration to everyone around her. She may be remembered as the person who compiled the book "Lights of Guidance." Before the age of data bases it was an enormous task and one that she carried out because, as she said, she didn't want anyone else to know more about her Faith then she did. But that is not what I will remember about her for. I was once sitting at her kitch… Continue

Oh you flatter me Sue. I would say I'm less conscientious and more procrastinating over my project. ;-) I look forward to reading more of your blogs soon.

Dear Susan joon,
`Alláh'u'Abhá!
How wonderful to hear from you.
How are you?
I hope you are happy.
Are you well?
What are you doing these days?
Katurah and Simon Richmond, Ai Ana (10), Bella (7), and Asher (4) were in Lusaka, Zambia for five years. And now they’re in Blantyre, Malawi!
Katurah has a popular web-blog
Lukas and April live in Eureka, California (he introduced her to Baha'u'llah; they've been married 3+ years). Lukas is a professional musician: tenor sax. April counsels mothers and children in Head Start programs. Their home is the center of Baha’i activity in Eureka.
Delane is having a very successful career here (McMinnville, Oregon) at Linfield College. Her student staff treasure her. And she’s doing firesides, deepenings, study circles and more for students several times a week.
I require regular attended care for MS, so now I live in an excellent care-facility. I find it fatiguing to spend time doing most anything, so usually I’m in bed or sitting at my computer (can you tell?).
How much I treasure our connection. I am so grateful to our Creator for the magic that surrounds us.
Prayers, blessings and peace,
tu hermano

I am doing very well, especially since I've been able to get back in touch with Todd. I have some very fond memories of you as well. Todd tells me that you are both doing well. My sister has very fond memories of Nuri, please let him know she thinks of him often. His kindness and patience towards her as a youth has never been forgotten by her, or me. It meant a lot to her and she has often expressed regret for not continuing to stay in touch with him.

Hey there you beautiful woman! Ask me any questions you want on here. You can either write on people's wall, which is public for everyone to see, or you can send a message which is private. You'll also see that there are various "groups" dedicated to discussions surrounding a particular topic or book. Additionally are the "forums" where you can ask a question, offer a particular thought and start a collaborative discussion to draw on the collective wisdom of the whole community.

Love,
Your Favorite Son
